Members of the National Association of Tarot Readers™ (NAOTR) agree to uphold the following ethical standards in all professional and personal practice:
1. Integrity & Honesty
Tarot is presented as a reflective and intuitive tool, not as a source of guaranteed predictions or absolute truth.
2. Respect for Free Will
Members honor each client’s autonomy. Tarot is used to explore possibilities—not to direct or control decisions
3. Professional Boundaries
Members do not provide medical, legal, financial, or mental health advice and do not present tarot as a substitute for licensed professionals.
4. Respect for Beliefs
Members respect all belief systems and do not impose personal, spiritual, or religious views on clients.
5. Client Empowerment
Members avoid fear-based messaging or dependency. Tarot should promote clarity, confidence, and personal empowerment.
6. Confidentiality
All client information and session details are kept private unless explicit consent is given or disclosure is required by law.
7. Ethical Marketing & Content
Members do not plagiarize, misrepresent credentials, or misuse the work of others. Originality and proper attribution are expected
8. Transparency
Services, pricing, and limitations are communicated clearly and honestly.
9. Consent & Voluntary Participation
All readings are conducted with informed and voluntary consent. Clients may decline or end a session at any time.
10. Accountability
Members agree to uphold NAOTR standards and cooperate with any ethical review process if concerns arise.
